A very popular Hungarian variety with a growing season of 110 days, producing fruits weighing 4-9 kg. Medium-juicy, orange pulp does not contain coarse fibres.
Agricultural technology.
The best soils for pumpkins are sandy and light loamy. Pumpkin is sown when the soil warms up to + 10 + 12 ° С. Seeds are planted to a depth of 5-10 cm. 2-3 seeds are sown in one hole. After germination, weak plants are removed. Pumpkin is also grown through seedlings, with planting in open ground at the age of one month (the phase of two or three true leaves). Long climbing varieties are sown in an ordinary way according to a scheme of 1.4x1.0 m. Bush pumpkin forms are sown in a square-nested way according to a scheme of 80 x 60 cm.
Plant care includes: pinching the lateral lashes, pinching the main stem (after setting several fruits), watering, weeding, loosening and obligatory top dressing. For the better formation of adventitious roots, the plants are lightly spudded with moist soil. Harvest fruits as they ripen.
* Pumpkin crops must be protected from rooks. The most reliable way is to cover with an old film, which is removed after germination.
* How to freeze fresh pumpkin?
Frozen pumpkin slices are great for making pumpkin soups or for garnishing...
To freeze a pumpkin, it must first be cleaned of seeds and fibres and then cut into cubes. Place the pumpkin slices on a baking sheet or tray lined with parchment paper. Put in the freezer for 20 minutes, then take it out, put the cubes in separate bags and put them back in the freezer.
Freezing pumpkin puree.
Pumpkin puree is a very practical option and can be used to prepare a variety of dishes. Pumpkin puree can be added to soups or used in baked goods. You can freeze mashed potatoes in small bags or in plastic cups. If you are using freezer bags, spread out the puree to let out excess air, then tie or seal the bag tightly. Spread the closed bags on a tray or board and put in the freezer. If you use cups, then they should be filled up to 2-3 cm from the edge. When applying the puree, you need to shake it slightly to remove air bubbles from the puree - then it will freeze more evenly. Wrap the top of the cups with cling film and place in the freezer.
What container to freeze?
You can freeze mashed potatoes in bags, plastic containers or even in jars (for example, from baby food). Freezer containers should be chosen based on your needs. Bags, unlike containers and jars, perfectly save space.
Don't forget to weigh in!
Before freezing raw pumpkin puree or cubes, it is advisable to weigh them, and then sign the weight of the product on a jar or bag, because this greatly simplifies the cooking process, since you already know exactly how much pumpkin is needed for a specific recipe.
Can be divided into portions: 250 g, 500 g, etc. Knowing the weight is important, especially if you're using pumpkin for baking. The seeds should be washed well, dried, lightly salted, then dried in the oven at a temperature of +180 ° C for about 30 minutes.
You can fry the seeds in a pan with a little oil, stirring constantly. The seeds can be eaten on their own or added to salads and cereals.
Pumpkin seeds are a valuable product, so never throw them away after cleaning!
Defrosting.
For many dishes, such as stews, soups or risottos, pumpkin slices do not need to be defrosted first. If you have thawed a pumpkin, you cannot re-freeze it, as the pumpkin will lose its taste.
